Who We Are

SCOPE (Sustainable Childhood Obesity Prevention through Community Engagement) is an initiative of BC Children’s Hospital that partners with communities across British Columbia to promote healthy weights among children through sharing and supporting Live 5-2-1-0 – a simple, easy-to-remember message to help kids and families adopt healthy habits.

We respect the privacy of every individual who visits our website. SCOPE takes great measures to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of any personal information collected through this website. Personal information collected from you will only be used in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

By providing your information, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy, and you agree and consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

This website may contain links to other websites, thus any personal information collected, used or disclosed on those external websites (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, MailChimp, a partner community’s website, etc.) is subject to that website’s privacy policy and this privacy policy does not apply.


What Personal Information Do We Collect?

When you download resources from our website, the type of personal information that we collect may include your:

  • which city/community you intend to use or share our resources in;
  • which sector you are from (i.e. health, education, community services, municipal, parent/family);
  • date and time of resource download; and
  • personal information you provide that we did not request (for example: personal information/details you voluntarily share with us in any of the fields on our Downloads page).

Cookies may be stored when you visit our website if you voluntarily choose to store your city and sector information in a session cookie for future downloads on our Resource Downloads page. Cookies are text files stored on your computer.

This information is not linked to you as an individual user; it is strictly recorded as aggregated information and may be used by us to track website traffic, the amount and types of resources that are being downloaded from our website, as well as which community and sector downloaders are from.

If you have voluntarily provided us with personal information on our Resource Downloads page, such as your e-mail address, to receive electronic communications from us, it will be stored on MailChimp – a third party website/database.


When Do We Collect Personal Information?

We collect your personal information when you visit our website, as well as when you complete the form to download resources on our Downloads page, including when you voluntarily provide your e-mail address to opt in to receive our Live 5-2-1-0 Newsletter.


How Long Information is Retained

We store your personal information only for as long as we require it to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected.
